DriveShelf — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026

DriveShelf is designed to respect your privacy completely. The short version: your catalog stays on your Mac, and we never see any of it.

Data we collect

None. DriveShelf does not collect, transmit, or have access to any of your data. There are no accounts and no sign-in.

Network use

DriveShelf makes no network connections to us or to any third party — we have no servers receiving your data, no analytics, and no advertising. If you use the optional iPhone companion app, your catalog syncs between your own devices through your own iCloud account. That sync is handled entirely by Apple's infrastructure, governed by Apple's own privacy policy; we never see or receive that data ourselves.

Files and folders

To catalog a drive, DriveShelf asks your permission to read it. That access is used only to record file names, paths and sizes into your local catalog. DriveShelf never reads, copies, or uploads the actual contents of your files — only enough information to help you find them again.
