EasyGear

Photograph it once. Pack it every time.

Every shoot starts with the same question: what am I taking, and did I bring it back? EasyGear is the gear list, the pack list and the wrap list in one place on your iPhone — with a picture of every item, what you paid for it, and a link your director, producer or DP can tick from Safari to tell you what they want on set.

Still in the edit bay.

EasyGear is in testing and isn't on the App Store yet. Leave your email and I'll send one note the day it ships — nothing else, no other list.

The first iPhone app in the family

The other EasyFilm apps live on the Mac, where the editing happens. This one lives in your pocket, because packing happens the night before and wrapping happens on a roof at 6pm.

  • Photograph it oncePoint the camera at each thing you own. The app lifts it off the background and files it with what you paid — or find it in the built-in catalog, or paste a link to the shop page and it reads the name, model and price. Your whole kit ends up as a knolling card you can post. How cool is that?
  • A shoot that tells you what to bringPick the kits, the place and the hours. EasyGear adds what the forecast and the day call for — rain covers, spare batteries, sandbags in wind — and reminds you the night before with what's still unpacked. Wrap mode at the end of the day shows what hasn't come back.
  • Ask the Director / Producer / DPSend one link. The director, producer or DP ticks what they want from your kit in Safari, no app needed, and their picks come back as your pack list. A PDF of the list is one tap.
  • Nothing goes to meNo accounts. Weather and place search go to Apple; sync is your own iCloud; the gear link carries the list inside itself and the page that shows it stores nothing. The privacy policy says the same in more words.
